Cheap Tickets is a gritty, intimate documentary reflecting Greece’s current economic crisis through a random Greek neighbourhood of passengers on the 6-hour night train that travels from the suburban working class city of Thessaloniki in Greece, to the economic, political and cultural capital Athens. The documentary artistically and innovatively captures the vast range of characters on board the train whilst emotionally delving in to the underworld of their own lives and concerns, with each revealing surprising depths of emotion and humanity. The tension of Greece’s current economic crises is reflected in conversation between a diverse number of passengers, who have to live with each other, blend with each other, contradict each other but eventually socialize and arrive at their destination.
