A nameless male child scavenges for residual pockets of energy reserves through the deserted ruins of a once-mighty megalopolis. Will the human spirit prevail in a world where the promise of the future lies entrenched within machinations of the past? “Vestiges” was created over a period of two years by a skeleton crew of dedicated artists on a near non-existent budget, working within the limits of commercial, off-the-shelf hardware and software. 90% of the film was rendered on, and the entire film was composited and edited on, a single consumer-grade notebook computer. The near-15 minute long film chronicles the prevalent times and attitudes of a world in disorder, through the unique perspectives of eight distinct characters, across ten distinct sets, spanning the evolution of a dystopia 'in cuerpo'. While drawing from modern production methodologies, the film is not intended to be a display of CGI prowess. Rather, it is a slow-paced plot-centric drama, that employs computer animation as the vehicle to deliver its narrative, demonstrating the viability of contemporary computer graphics technology as an affordable and practicable storytelling tool for present-day filmmakers against comparable production values.
