Michael is the last of a band of Angels appointed the task of maintaining the balance of light and dark. Darkness and the evil within it have been fighting back ever since God first brought forth the light. Whenever the balance shifts, a human guardian must use an ancient book to restore it. Since her brother was killed in a car accident Abigail has been haunted by guilt and a vision that she doesn't quite believe. When she discovers a strange and ancient book a year later, Michael is ready and waiting but will she believe what he has to say?
