The project is a collaboration work between a musician and a visual artist from the Arab Region, connecting the musician Tamer Abu Ghazaleh and the fine artist Ghassan Halwani.
What is Takhabbot?
A modern expressionist song written, composed, and performed by Tamer Abu Ghazaleh.
A burst of energy with intense feelings reflecting the political chaos that an Arab is continuously witnessing.
The video clip:
The music video aims to project the idea of the absurd reconstruction of the city (Beirut) where there is a total absence of urban planning, replaced by private construction projects. As if every empty space in the city is becoming a profitable interest for investing.
This new reconstruction of the city is reshaping it outside the social needs of many inhabitants, creating a new social structure efficient only to the privileged while simultaneously alienating mass citizens.
This is affecting the public and private recognition of the city. It is also influencing the environment: lack of sky vision creates new highly expressed shadows, specifically on the Corniche (where people are mostly exposed to shadow rather than light).
And this reshaping will have a long-term effect.
The above concern is articulated by the two main characters in the video, who are witnessing/manipulating the interference of each other’s perception and how this interference affects the other's reality.
The Film is a 2D hand drawn animation using classical methods (frame by frame illustration). The initial story soon escalates into absurdity because it is taking place in the city of Beirut where simple actions can suddenly turn into gigantic absurd situations due to the civil chaos and the individual's lifestyle. This story will no longer take place due to the chaotic reconstruction of the city. A massive exploding reconstruction, ravaging stories, citizens, history, heritage, air, sky and sea, a reconstruction with total absence of any urban planning.
