“Drop thy still dews of quietness, till all our strivings cease;
Take from our souls the strain and stress,
And let our ordered lives confess
The beauty of thy peace.”
For a long time, a young woman has been caring for her sick mother. The outside world has long since ceased to exist for either of them. Love and despair run alongside one another in their airless West Cumbrian home. But today, Her Mother, unable to remember even the words of her favourite hym, begs Her Daughter to set her free. Her Daughter finds herself catapulted into the wildness of the nearby fell tops, where the horror and compassion of the day’s actions unfold.
