Besides the obvious theme of love running through Breakfast Lunch Dinner, there
are other elements which have struck a chord in me over the years which I wanted
to portray. In Dinner, the scenes are structured to clearly reflect the persistence of
tradition despite the modernity surrounding it. Moving beyond the laments of lost love
and second chances at a bakery shop, I also wanted to explore the beauty of chanced
meetings and interaction between individuals.
The need for acceptance is crucial, socially and professionally. Perhaps for fear of being
judged by those closer to us, coupled with an innate desire to share, we might find
ourselves in a situation where we spill our innermost thoughts to a complete stranger.
Whatever it is that may have prompted this interaction, each individual takes with them the experience they shared in that moment of time; good or bad, they in turn move forth and affect others.
Everything in life comes fill circle.
