The Festival is open to any form of short film, genre, budgets and techniques.
The maximum duration for submitted films is 25 minutes including credits.
The Deadline for submissions will be Monday 25th June 2018.
Final exhibition copies of the film MUST be received by Monday August 27th 2018.

A separate entry form is required for each submission.
All entrants will be advised if their film has been selected for exhibition by Monday September 10th 2018.
English subtitles required for any film not in English.
ESFF will not provide comments on films prior to selection, nor reasons for rejection.
ESFF occasionally curates short film programmes for other film festivals, (recently we have curated for festivals in the Caribbean, Italy, Australia and Japan). By submitting your film the entrant agrees to the inclusion of their film in any such future programme.
This would only consist of one-off festival screenings.
Selected films, trailers and stills may also be screened or published online to assist in promoting the festival.
The submitter must have the legal authority to submit the film and to have the work screened publicly including any necessary permissions. By submitting, the submitter confirms they have all the necessary rights for the screening of the film submitted, to be exhibited at the festival.
By submitting their film all entrants are deemed to have read and agreed the rules and regulations governing the festival. In the event of any disagreement, the interpretation of the festival will take precedence.
These rules and regulations are subject to change without prior notice.
The Festival reserves the right to withdraw or include selected shorts from the programme as necessary.

Dedicated and passionate about short film, The Edinburgh Short Film Festival has brought some of the best contemporary Scottish, UK and international short film to the Scottish capital since its inception in 2011.
Screening around 70 short films across 8 nights, the Festival also awards prizes for Best Film, Best Animated Film and Best Scottish Film each autumn, at venues across the city.
Each year we curate screenings of our best short films for International festivals around the world and for 2018 we have been asked to programme for film festivals and art events across the world, including Mecal - the Barcelona International Short Film and DC Shorts based in Washington, USA as well as the Fastnet Film Festival in Ireland, the Florence Short Film Festival, The Sardinia Film Festival, Manipulate Festival of Visual Theatre & Animation, and Hidden Door in Edinburgh!
The Festival aims to bring the best Scottish,UK & International short film to audiences and film practitioners in Edinburgh and Scotland,to bring visiting film-makers from across Scotland, the UK and Internationally to meet and talk to Edinburgh audiences and film practitioners.
