Description:
HollyShorts Film Festival is an organization devoted to showcasing the best and brightest short films from around the globe, advancing the careers of filmmakers through screenings, networking events, and various panel and forums. The HollyShorts Film festival showcases the top short films produced 40- minutes or less. Categories include Short Animation, Short Live Action, Short Documentary, Music Video, Webisode, Commercials, Youth Film and Digital Microbudget.

Recently named an Academy Awards® Qualifying Festival.

Awards & Prizes:
HSFF awards prizes from sponsors Panavision, Final Draft, Lightspeed EPS, True Vision Entertainment, and many others! Awards go to over 20 categories including Best Short, Best Director, Best Animation, Best Doc, Best Cinematography, Best Music Video, Best Commercial, Best VR, etc. Distribution opportunities available for winners via Bitpix, ShortsTV, and Indieflix.

Rules & Terms:
Films and videos submitted to the Festival will be considered for competitive categories. Oscar nominated films may be submitted for screening but not in the competitive categories.
By submitting your film for consideration for the 14th Annual HollyShorts Film Festival, you agree for HollyShorts to screen your short film if it is an official selection for this year's festival and are obligated to your commitment. All films will screen on DCP unless otherwise mentioned. Total Run Time including credits should be no longer than 40 mins.

Virtual Reality (VR) Submissions
Virtual Reality proof of concept, Narrative, pilots, shorts, or VR series all under 7 minutes in length. Finalists/Selected projects will be showcased as part of our VR lounge experience. Top VR project/winner will be announced at the awards ceremony. HSFF requires that VR projects submit a link to a 360 version of your film or project at the time of submission. If you change this link or any of your login information prior to August 2017 without contacting HSFF your project may become ineligible for consideration. Content can also be sent on a USB drive to 14622 Ventura Blvd suite 102, #722, Sherman Oaks, CA 91402, United States. If submitting via download link, your link must be to a secure, 360 online version of your project via an external site (i.e. YouTube 360, your own website, etc.). Your link must be working before you complete your submission application and available through August 2017. - Interactive VR and room-scale VR (HTC Vive and/or Oculus Rift).


ACADEMY AWARDS® QUALIFYING FILM FESTIVAL
Recipients of the HollyShorts Film Festival Best Short Film Grand Prize will be eligible for consideration in the Live Action Short Film category of the Academy Awards® without the standard theatrical run, provided the film otherwise complies with the Academy Rules.

Digital Microbudget - Films made on tablets, iphones, Microsoft Windows phones, Androids, gopro, etc. Budget at or under $500. 10 minutes or less.

Student - College or thesis projects, film class projects, etc. 40 minutes or less.

Web Series - Web Series submissions up to 20 minutes per submission of episodes. Winner receives $5,000 production deal with Black Mast Studios.
