In the 13th Century Urbino was beside of Firenze the most important cultural centre. In this Renaissance period the sciences and the arts came together for a highly inspiring dialog for both sides. So Urbino seems the ideal place to take the challenge, what an innovative audiovisual production can do today, confronting itself with complex and problematic realities today, mixing knowledge and artistic transformation.
The International Festival SIGNES DE NUIT (Segni de la Notte), originally based in Paris, is made up of films, which reflects new views, original imagery and a critical approach to crucial points of the modern human existence. It is a place for cinema that expands its own boundaries, that is astonishing, different, potentially free from the pressure of tradition, ready to give itself to the unpredictable experimentation.
The festival offers a panorama of independent, inspiring films from all around the world. The films will be presented in different international competitions and thematically or regional focus programs. Documentaries, experimental documentaries, narrative and experimental short films as also a "Cinema in transgression" in all forms are welcome.
