From Oct. 5, 2017 until Oct. 8, 2017
10th Heart of Gold International Short Film Festival 2017
Held in richly historic Gympie, Australia from 5-8 October 2017, Heart of Gold International Short Film Festival (HOGISFF) is one of the gems in the crown of Australian short film festivals but we like to think it has extra sparkle thanks to its unique mission: to showcase well-crafted, thought-provoking and uplifting short films from around the world.
We’re seeking short films from all genres (up to 30 minutes in length) that best capture the festival's vision of screening films that are: positive, witty, whimsical, entertaining, joyous, uplifting, quirky, enlightening, and ground breaking. They can be edgy, they can be thought-provoking and they can be downright hilarious – as long as they beat with a good heart!
Now in its 10th year, Heart of Gold is positioning Gympie as a hub of filmmaking excellence and filmic gold.
Please read the full terms and conditions before entering.
Award winners will be announced during the award night festivities on 7 October 2017. We encourage all filmmakers to attend!

Held in richly historic Gympie, Australia from 5-8 October 2017, Heart of Gold International Short Film Festival (HOGISFF) is one of the gems in the crown of Australian short film festivals but we like to think it has extra sparkle thanks to its unique mission: To showcase well-crafted, nourishing and uplifting short films from around the world.
The four-day programme typically sees an opening night, gala awards evening, ‘filmmaker presents’ slots and up to 30 sessions cram-packed with 150 short films from all genres that best capture the festival's vision to screen carefully-crafted films that are heartwarming, entertaining, uplifting and thought-provoking.
All films are competing for the Best Short Film award (which carries a prize of $5000) and other award categories including: Best Australian Short Film, Best Student Film, Screeners' Choice Award, Best Cinematography, Best Script, Most Inspiring True Story and the Gympie Gold Award.
The festival has become renowned for its high quality programme which is largely thanks to a very unique, methodical two-part screening system. All films are filtered through the festival’s artistic director, and small groups of screeners that gather in lounge-rooms in Gympie, to review and score the countless submissions.
